Eric Holder Statement on Stacey Abrams Winning the Georgia Primary

Washington, D.C. — Tonight, Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and Chair of National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), released the following statement on Stacey Abrams winning the Democratic primary in Georgia:

“I want to congratulate Stacey Abrams for winning today’s Democratic primary and I look forward to supporting her historic candidacy to become Georgia’s next governor. Throughout her career — inside and outside the government — she has committed herself to ensuring that more Georgians have the right to vote and the opportunity to succeed. If elected, she has pledged to continue her fight for voting rights, including by vetoing gerrymandered districts when new lines are drawn in 2021. I’m confident she has the experience and ability to bring Georgia into a new, brighter future built on fairness, equality, and opportunity for all its citizens.”

Georgia is one of NDRC’s Electoral Targets for 2018.
