Washington, D.C. –  Today, Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and Chairman of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), released the following statement in response to the Indiana Senate’s bipartisan rejection of a proposed mid-decade gerrymander:

“The courage demonstrated by Indiana legislators today is a hopeful sign and perhaps an indication that the commitment to democracy will outweigh partisan loyalty heading into 2026.  As Washington Republicans continue to fuel this national gerrymandering crisis, their counterparts in state capitols across the country should ask themselves, ‘What would Indiana do?’ And the answer is, stand up for the people and protect democracy.”
