NDRC and The States Project Announce Six-Figure Partnership to Win State Legislative Races

Washington, D.C. – As reported in Politico, The States Project and the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC) announced a new six-figure partnership aimed at supporting legislative candidates running for office this November across five battleground states critical to redistricting efforts heading into the 2028 election. The investments will fund electoral work that supports Democratic candidates running for state legislatures in Arizona, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Specifically, those investments will support efforts to increase candidate doorknocking and paid communication to voters. This announcement marks the third election cycle where the NDRC and The States Project have partnered to invest in state legislative races across the country.

As Donald Trump and right-wing Republicans continue to use state legislative majorities to rig the fight for Congress in their favor, state legislative victories will be critical in the fight to protect democracy and for federal power. 

“The results of the 2026 midterms at the state level—particularly state legislative races—will determine our ability to stop Donald Trump and Republicans’ ongoing gerrymandering power grab,” said Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and Chairman of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC). “That’s why we’re investing in state legislatures where securing pro-democracy majorities is critical to fighting back against gerrymandering and ensuring fair representation. I am proud to have NDRC partner with The States Project to bring our resources together, so we have the enhanced ability to fight this crisis and end the cycle of partisan and racial gerrymandering once and for all.”
