Eric Holder: Democrats Defeated Trump’s Gerrymandering To Take Back The House
Washington, D.C. – Today, Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and Chairman of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), released the following statement after the American people voted in a new Democratic Majority in Congress:
“The Trump plot to steal enough seats to keep control of Congress—the will of the people be damned—was systematically dismantled, and, given the opportunity, voters instead chose to elect a new Democratic majority. Once again, American democracy has been defended.
“Let this be a lesson: never capitulate, never acquiesce to those who would use power for improper purposes; fight. Always remember that a committed and focused American people can overcome any obstacle put in their way; remain optimistic.
“Congratulations to soon-to-be Speaker of the House Hakeem Jeffries, soon-to-be House Majority Leader Katherine Clarke, soon-to-be House Majority Whip Pete Aguilar, DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene, and to everyone who stepped up to be part of this fight; the MAGA gerrymandering scheme didn’t just fail all on its own—we destroyed it together.”
