Washington, D.C. – Today, Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and Chairman of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), released the following statement in response to Democrats winning control of the U.S. Senate:

“American voters have delivered a powerful repudiation of Donald Trump and the Republican MAGA agenda by electing a substantial Democratic Senate majority. After two years of rising costs, mounting corruption, inhumane abuses of power, and attacks on our democracy, Americans have had enough and gave Democrats both chambers in Congress to hold this administration accountable and deliver a bold new vision for our country.

“Now is not the time to be timid; this moment demands bold leadership. Democrats must use the power the American people have entrusted them with to deliver a new vision for our country—one where our institutions are reimagined to work for the people, not the powerful special interests—and that includes passing a federal ban on partisan gerrymandering and mid-decade redistricting, so that people, not politicians, decide who wins elections. I look forward to working with the Democratic Senate Majority to deliver this new vision for the country.”
