Eric Holder Endorses Joyce Craig for Governor of New Hampshire

October 10, 2024

Washington, D.C. — Today, Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and Chairman of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), announced his endorsement of Joyce Craig for Governor of New Hampshire. This endorsement is part of the NDRC’s Democracy Defenders program, a campaign supporting candidates running for state-level offices critical to safeguarding and strengthening democracy.

Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and Chairman of the NDRC, released the following statement endorsing Joyce Craig for the Governor of New Hampshire:

“Joyce Craig has a strong record of leadership as a mayor and public servant. She is dedicated to protecting the rights of the people: reproductive rights, voting rights, workers rights and more,” said Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and Chairman of the NDRC. “There is a clear choice in this election between Joyce Craig, a champion of the rights and interests of the people, and Kelly Ayotte, an ideologue trapped in a party committed to gerrymandering and restricting reproductive rights. Look at Kelly Ayotte’s record as a U.S. Senator and take her at her word. Her 2024 election conversions mean nothing. She co-sponsored national abortion bans, she endorsed mid-decade gerrymandering, and her history of outsourcing shows she is no friend of working people. Granite Staters, your rights are on the line, your future is at stake. Make your voice heard and vote for Joyce Craig for governor.”

ADDITIONAL BACKGROUND:

In New Hampshire, mid-cycle redistricting is not prohibited, meaning the state legislature can redraw the state’s congressional map at any time. The Republican candidate for governor, Kelly Ayotte, publicly stated she would be “open to” enacting a new congressional gerrymander if she becomes the governor.

Meanwhile, Joyce Craig is running on a pro-voting rights platform and supports reforming New Hampshire’s redistricting process by establishing an independent redistricting commission.
