Eric Holder Endorses Judge Susan Crawford for Wisconsin Supreme Court

January 27, 2025

Washington, D.C. — Today, Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and Chairman of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), announced his endorsement of Judge Susan Crawford for the Wisconsin Supreme Court. As first reported in The New York Times, Attorney General Holder will travel to Wisconsin to campaign for Judge Crawford. This endorsement is part of the NDRC’s Democracy Defenders program, which supports candidates running for state-level offices critical to safeguarding and strengthening democracy.

Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and Chairman of the NDRC, released the following statement endorsing Judge Susan Crawford for the Wisconsin Supreme Court:

“This election will determine if Wisconsin remains on the path of justice and continues to be a beacon of hope in our quest for a true democracy. With a long and strong record as a fair, impartial jurist who has dedicated her career to protecting the rights, freedoms, and safety of all citizens, Judge Susan Crawford will be an excellent justice who will ensure the Supreme Court decides cases based on the facts and the law and preserves the rights of all who live in this great state.

“By contrast, her far-right opponent would take Wisconsin’s highest court back to its extreme that rolls back rights rather than protects them. From supporting the state’s extreme 1849 abortion ban to challenging the Affordable Care Act and defending egregiously gerrymandered maps in court, Brad Schimel’s record of harmful, ideological endeavors is far out of step with the people.

“With democracy at stake, Wisconsinites have a clear choice. Elect Judge Susan Crawford to protect and maintain Wisconsin’s fair-minded state Supreme Court.”
