Eric Holder Endorses Mai Xiong and Peter Herzberg for Michigan State House

April 15, 2024

Washington, D.C. – Today, Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and Chairman of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), issued the following statement announcing his endorsement of Mai Xiong and Peter Herzberg for State Representative in Michigan’s April 16 special election to fill the vacated seats representing the 13th and 25th Districts:

“State legislatures are the front lines in the battle for our democracy and for fundamental rights. In Michigan, it is critical that we protect the effective Democratic majority in the state House by electing pro-democracy candidates who will fight for their communities. That is why I am proud to endorse Mai Xiong and Peter Herzberg for State Representative.

“I know that Mai and Peter will work tirelessly to protect the freedoms of all people and advance policies that support working families. Experience has shown that, if given the opportunity, a Republican state House majority would do the opposite and cater to the special interests just as they did before.

“This is an election about democracy and the interests of the people. On April 16th, Michiganders must make their voices heard and elect Mai Xiong and Peter Herzberg to the Michigan House.”
