Washington, D.C. — Today, Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and Chairman of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), announced his endorsement for Phil Weiser for Governor of Colorado. This endorsement is part of the NDRC’s Democracy Defenders program, a campaign supporting candidates running for state-level offices critical to safeguarding and strengthening democracy.

Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and Chairman of the NDRC, released the following statement endorsing Phil Weiser for Governor of Colorado:

“This election will determine whether Colorado will be led by a governor who is normal, protects democracy, defends the rule of law, and fights for every Coloradan—or someone with extremist views who claims the 2020 election was ‘stolen’ and other even more bizarre personal conduct.

“Phil Weiser has dedicated his career to public service, justice, and defending the people of Colorado. As Attorney General, he repeatedly stood up to the Trump Administration to protect the rule of law, safeguard free and fair elections, and secure the rights of all Coloradans. If elected, he will continue to protect the fundamental rights of every citizen, keep communities safe, and make the state more affordable.

“Phil’s record of service stands in stark contrast to his Republican opponent, whose extreme nature is dangerous and far out of step with Coloradans and basic precepts of acceptable behavior. Coloradans deserve a governor who will always put the people first, lead with integrity, and fight for justice for all—and in this election, that only person is Phil Weiser. There is a clear choice, and the stakes in this election are incredibly high. Every Coloradan must make their voices heard this November and elect Phil Weiser to be Colorado’s next governor.”
