Eric Holder Responds to NC Court of Appeals Decision in Griffin v. North Carolina State Board of Elections

April 5, 2025

Washington, D.C. — Today, Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States, issued the following statement in response to the North Carolina Court of Appeals’s decision in Griffin v. North Carolina State Board of Elections:

“This shameful decision is simply wrong on the law, and a prelude to potential massive disenfranchisement. It silences the will of the voters, and ignores the results of multiple recounts, evaluations by the State Board of Elections, and the trial court – all seemingly to achieve partisan goals. The North Carolina Supreme Court must quickly reverse this abhorrent decision and protect the rights of the people.”
