Eric Holder Responds to Republican Candidate Finally Conceding in North Carolina Supreme Court Race
May 7, 2025
Washington, D.C. — Today, Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and Chairman of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), issued the following statement in response to Judge Jefferson Griffin finally conceding the 2024 North Carolina Supreme Court election in which Justice Allison Riggs was re-elected to the bench:
“Justice Allison Riggs’s dedicated efforts to vindicate the rights of North Carolinians are a lesson to all Americans in the fight to protect democracy on so many fronts: never tire, never back down. Never.
“Pressure from the people works to hold leaders accountable. Fighting in court works to enforce the laws enshrined to protect our rights. These are the lessons from this protracted struggle in North Carolina.
“Make no mistake, the delay in the certification of this free and fair election was completely unnecessary. Wherever our democracy is threatened, we must—no matter how long it takes—stand up for what is right.”
