Eric Holder Statement on Colorado Pursuing Redistricting Ballot Measure to Counter Republican Mid-Decade Gerrymanders
Washington, D.C. — Today, Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and Chairman of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), issued the following statement in response to Coloradans for a Level Playing Field pursuing a ballot initiative to ask Colorado voters to approve a new, temporary congressional map in November 2026 in response to continued mid-decade gerrymandering by Republicans in other states:
“Republicans have demonstrated that their mid-decade gerrymanders will not end after the 2026 midterms, and in the face of that continued threat, Colorado is taking a responsible step by asking the voters to weigh in on the state’s temporary response. Let’s be clear: Colorado did not choose this fight. As Republicans pursue mid-decade gerrymanders in other states, the American people, including Coloradans, will fight back.”
