Eric Holder Statement on Voters Defeating Missouri’s Mid-Decade Gerrymander
Washington, D.C. – Today, Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and Chairman of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), released the following statement in response to Missouri voters passing Proposition A, which repeals Missouri’s mid-decade congressional gerrymander and keeps in place the map the Missouri General Assembly enacted in 2022:
“Missourians have demonstrated that people, not politicians, hold the real power in this country. At a time when big law firms, prestigious universities, and massive corporations have largely folded to the Trump administration’s power grabs, it is ordinary American citizens who have risen up in record numbers to oppose Donald Trump’s effort to silence the will of the people and steal the House majority. Thanks to them, that effort has been defeated in Missouri.
“I congratulate Missourians on this major victory and applaud the incredible, inspiring effort of those who organized, volunteered, and voted to make it possible. We will keep fighting alongside them to ensure that people, not politicians, decide who wins the House majority.”
