Eric Holder Statement on Wisconsin Supreme Court Election Results
April 1, 2025
Washington, D.C. — Today, Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and Chairman of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), released the following statement in response to the Wisconsin Supreme Court election results:
“Votes are more powerful than dollars. This election was a battle between Musk Money and democracy, and today’s victory is a testament to the real power of the people. When Republicans—and the billionaires they are beholden to—tried to buy an extreme right-wing majority on Wisconsin’s highest court to act as a ‘support network’ for Trump, Wisconsinites said hell no.
“Here is the lesson from Wisconsin: we, the citizens of this great country, have the actual power. We can protect economic rights, voting rights, reproductive rights, and we can protect our democracy as long as we participate in the electoral process. We go on from here to reclaim our nation.”
ADDITIONAL BACKGROUND:
This election was a top priority for Attorney General Holder who endorsed Judge Susan Crawford earlier this year. Leading up to the general election, he participated in multiple fundraisers to ensure her campaign had the resources it needed to combat the Musk-funded campaign against her and joined events to fire up volunteers. In March, Attorney General Holder traveled to Wisconsin to help get out the vote and energize supporters and voters in Milwaukee and Madison. While there, he also spoke with several local radio hosts, including Michelle Bryant, Earl Ingram, and Sherwin Hughes, to promote the first day of early voting and raise awareness of the importance of this race. In addition to Attorney General Holder’s engagement, NDRC and affiliates continuously engaged their grassroots networks to help recruit volunteers and get out the vote. NDRC and affiliates also deployed staff to go to Wisconsin to help get out the vote in the days leading up to the April 1 election.
