AG Holder Demands TN House Fully Restore Rights of Reps. Justin Jones and Justin Pearson Should They Be Reappointed

Washington, D.C. — Today, counsel for former state Reps. Justin Jones and Justin Pearson—Covington & Burling LLP and Burch Porter & Johnson—sent a letter to Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton, demanding that the Tennessee House of Representatives fully restore the rights of their clients as members of the House if the Nashville Metropolitan Council and the Shelby County Commission vote to reappoint them, and further to refrain from taking any additional retributive actions against Jones and Pearson or their constituents. The letter is signed by Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States, C. William Phillips, and R. Gregory Rubio, who are providing counsel to Rep. Justin Jones on behalf of Covington & Burling LLP, as well as Scott J. Crosby, Jef Feibelman, and Sarah E. Stuart, who are providing counsel to Rep. Justin Pearson on behalf of Burch Porter & Johnson.
