NDRC Responds to Maryland Supreme Court Allowing Citizens to Vote on Redistricting Ballot Measure in November

Washington, D.C. — Today, John Bisognano, President of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), issued the following statement in response to the Maryland Supreme Court allowing Marylanders to weigh in on a redistricting ballot measure in the 2026 midterms:

“This is a victory for democracy in Maryland where—in contrast to Republicans enacting egregious mid-decade gerrymanders against the will of the people—the people of the Free State will have the opportunity to weigh in on redistricting at the ballot box this November. If Marylanders approve this measure in the fall, state lawmakers must follow their will and enact a map that is responsive to the moment.”
