NDRC Statement on Gerrymandered Texas Legislative Maps

Washington, D.C. — Today, John Bisognano, President of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), released the following statement in response to the new Texas House and Senate maps, which are identical to the gerrymandered maps that were signed into law during the 2021-2022 redistricting cycle:

“The new gerrymandered legislative maps do not accurately reflect Texas’ increasingly diverse population and political makeup. At every step of the redraw process, legislators refused to make any changes to the current district lines, simply passing the same gerrymandered maps only set to benefit Republican control. Texas voters across the Lone Star state deserve more than this shameful outcome.”
