NDRC Statement on Indiana Republicans Abandoning December Redraw
November 14, 2025
Washington, D.C. – Today, Indiana Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray announced that the Republican-led state Senate does not have the votes to draw a mid-decade gerrymander and will not convene in December.
“Hoosiers are proving that public outcry can make politicians think twice before silencing the voices of their own constituents,” said Marina Jenkins, Executive Director of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC). “For months, thousands of citizens across the state have protested, called their legislators, signed petitions, and more to make it abundantly clear that if Republican legislators take up the pen to redraw Indiana’s congressional map, they will be doing so at their own peril.”
