NDRC Statement on Indiana Republicans’ Visit to the White House

August 26, 2025

Washington, D.C. — Today, John Bisognano, President of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), released the following statement ahead of Indiana Republican state legislators’ visit to the White House amid Trump’s pressure campaign to gerrymander and growing bipartisan opposition among Hoosiers against a mid-decade redraw:

“This visit is no different from when Trump invited Michigan state legislators to the White House as part of his desperate pressure campaign on Republican state legislators across the country to help him overturn the results of the 2020 election. To their credit, those Michigan Republicans rejected Trump’s desperate pleas and ultimately helped protect the results of a free and fair election in 2020. Now, Indiana Republican legislators face a similar clear choice: they can stand with Hoosiers, who increasingly oppose a mid-decade gerrymander, or they can fold to Donald Trump’s desperate plot to predetermine the outcome of the 2026 midterms before a single vote is cast.”
