NDRC Statement on the New Congressional Map Passed by the Maryland House of Delegates

Washington, D.C. — Today, John Bisognano, President of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), issued the following statement in response to the Maryland House of Delegates passing a new congressional map:

“Even after Republicans conducted egregious power grabs in Texas, North Carolina, and Missouri against the will of their own constituents, Donald Trump’s attempt to steal the House majority in the 2026 midterms through gerrymandering is far from over. As Florida Republicans consider drawing an even more gerrymandered map, the Maryland House of Delegates has passed a new map that is the product of a responsible, transparent commission process based on public input—and it strengthens community representation. The threat to our democracy is reaching a new, even more dangerous point, and every Democratic elected official in the Maryland Senate must do everything in their power to protect the voting power of the American people.”
