Washington, D.C. – Today, Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and Chairman of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), released the following statement in response to the Michigan Supreme Court election results:

“Michiganders have demonstrated again that consistent engagement at the ballot box can protect a healthy system of checks and balances and the rights that come with it. By electing Chief Justice Megan Cavanagh and Justice Noah Hood, Michiganders have ensured that their state’s highest court will retain an independent, fair-minded majority that will continue to protect the fundamental rights of the people. I congratulate Chief Justice Cavanagh and Justice Hood on their victories, and I applaud Michiganders for showing up to vote in defense of their state constitution and our democracy.”
