Washington, D.C. – Today, Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and Chairman of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), released the following statement in response to the Ohio gubernatorial election results:

“Tonight’s victory is a testament to the fact that votes are more powerful than dollars. You simply can’t buy elections when the people are truly focused. When a MAGA billionaire spent millions on morally reprehensible attack ads in an effort to buy the governor’s office, Ohioans saw through it and soundly rejected them. In Dr. Amy Acton, Ohioans have elected a governor who leads with integrity, empathy, and decency. I know she will always put Ohioans first and will work to make the Buckeye State a more affordable home for working families. I congratulate Governor-elect Acton on her victory, and I applaud Ohioans for demonstrating that the people hold the real power in this country.”

ADDITIONAL BACKGROUND:

Gubernatorial races were a top priority this year for Attorney General Holder, who endorsed Dr. Amy Acton for governor of Ohio. Ahead of the general election, he traveled to the Buckeye State to help raise money for Dr. Acton’s campaign to ensure she had the resources she needed.
