Washington, D.C. — Today, Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and Chairman of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), released the following statement in response to the Virginia state legislative special election results: 

“This election underscores the continuing historical fact that the fight for our democracy is never over—as long as the people continue to participate. By using their power at the ballot box, Virginians have voted to protect pro-democracy majorities in the General Assembly and to stop Governor Youngkin’s attempts to roll back their fundamental rights. I want to congratulate—and was proud to endorse—Kannan Srinivasan and JJ Singh on their victories. In these Democracy Defenders, Virginians will have dedicated public servants who will put their communities first and protect the rights of the people.”
