NDRC Statement on New Hampshire House GOP’s Congressional Map
April 26, 2022
Washington, D.C. — Yesterday, the Republicans in the New Hampshire House of Representatives introduced a congressional map that is gerrymandered in favor of their party. Rather than keeping the two congressional districts similar to how they have been drawn for the past 140 years, which has allowed more competition between both parties, New Hampshire Republicans drew a first district that favors their party.
“New Hampshire Republicans are using laser-like precision to erase New Hampshire’s tradition of competitive congressional races and create an artificial advantage for their party,” said Liz Wester, the NDRC’s States and Advocacy Director. “Governor Sununu is correct to not accept this map, and must promise to veto any map that does not provide competitive districts. The people of New Hampshire know this map does not reflect their values, and they expect the governor to keep his word.”
