Washington, D.C. – Today, John Bisognano, President of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), issued the following statement in response to congressional Democrats reintroducing the Freedom to Vote Act: 

“Right now, our democracy is facing threats from powerful forces and the Freedom to Vote Act would provide necessary protections against such forces that are undermining and attacking American democracy. By protecting the right to vote, banning partisan gerrymandering and returning power back to the people, we can restore the cornerstone of our democracy: free and fair elections. In order to achieve that goal, Congress must pass the Freedom to Vote Act.”
