Washington, D.C. — Today, the National Democratic Redistricting PAC, an affiliate of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), is announcing a $25,000 investment in the special election race for Senate District 11 in Minnesota. The investment includes funds to support the Senate Caucus IE/Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Party field and digital programs supporting Stu Lourey. The election will take place on Tuesday, February 5.

Kelly Ward, Executive Director of NDRC, released the following statement:

“With the next round of redistricting in 2021, we are focused on ensuring Democrats are in position to fight for fair maps that will be in place for the next decade. The voters in Minnesota – and around the country – deserve fair elections and a government that represents the will of the people.”

NDRC announced Minnesota is on its Electoral Target list for 2019 – 2020. In 2018, the NDRC and its affiliates invested $360,000 to support the successful campaign of Tim Walz for governor and a digital advertising and field program for candidates for the state legislature. NDRC’s targets include the states that were the most badly gerrymandered by Republicans in 2011 as well as states where Democrats have an opportunity to protect against Republican gerrymandering.

The NDRC is the first-ever strategic hub for a comprehensive redistricting strategy that includes winning targeted elections, reforming the system, advancing legal action and building the infrastructure needed to achieve a fair redistricting process. Our goal is to restore fairness to our democracy and ensure every American has an equal say in our government.
