NDRC Joins Fight Against Partisan Recall Efforts in Nevada

Washington, D.C. — Today, the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC) announced a $50,000 investment in the “Decline to Sign” campaign fighting a partisan recall effort in Nevada. In an attempt to flip the Democratic majority in the state Senate, Republicans are gathering signatures to force recall elections against Senators Joyce Woodhouse, Patricia Farley, and Nicole Cannizzaro. In 2021, the Nevada legislature will redraw its electoral maps, which the governor will approve or veto.

Former Attorney General and NDRC Chairman Eric Holder released the following statement on the recall effort:

“The Nevada recall effort is a shameless attempt to subvert the democratic process for political gain. This brazen power grab would overturn the will of the voters to flip a key chamber ahead of the 2021 redistricting process. Our investment will help bolster local efforts to stop this unnecessary, partisan recall campaign.”

This is the NDRC’s second investment in 2017 campaigns. The NDRC has also donated to the Democratic Party of Virginia in advance of gubernatorial and state legislative races in November.
